Oct. 9, 2008 - Unfortunately the Wizard Duel didn't fall through. Time wouldn't even allow me to write the script
for it. However there is good news on the horizon. I have been selected to be Visual FX Supervisor for DLD Films first major
project. As we speak I am selecting top VFX artist. It's time consuming finding a good VFX Artist but so far I landed one. A good
one in fact and am now working on getting the second artist in what I hope will be a team of 5-8 VFX Artist.
On another note, my FX tests will soon start to build up more and more as I am currently inspired to make my first reel.
This will mean that the older FX tests will be taken down to make room for longer and better ones.
Jan. 4, 2008 - Moving forward with the Wizard Duel, I finally found, or should I say, I've been found, by a good friend of mine Dave Atlas. You might remember the name in the Images section where I credit him for the texture I used to make my 3D Planet. He and I have been working on a script for the Wand Duel. Already deciding that this will take a year to make with all the effects that are going to be thrown in, we're taking the time to work on the script by working on different versions of the script. So far between the FX tests he has made and the script, this is looking to be a very good project.
Aug. 29, 2007 - I have an iPhone which Safari's Web Browser can only view MP4 video. I would like to show people the effects I've done if I'm away from my computers, or any computer without internet access. I've just tested this and I like that the codec gives me great video quality at half the size. So, for my future films and effects tests I will use the H.264 codec, with an added MP4 version of the clip/films as well for all you iPhone users. As an example of the new format please go to the Light Streak effect on the Video Section of the site.
Aug. 25, 2007 - As you've might have guessed, writer's block kicked in and hard. I'm still going over the script, taking away and adding on to it. In the meantime, I tried to enter a Wand Duel Contest over at the TF.N Message Boards ( which by the way you can find the thread for this contest here) but to much of my dismay, what I have planned will not be done within the time given in this contest. This contest of course inspired by the final Wand Duel between Lord Voldemort and Harry Potter in the Goblet of Fire and more of a recent inspiration from the epic Voldemort and Dumbledore Wand Duel in Order of the Phoenix.
However, I am very much interested in creating a Wizard Duel of my own. I've started watching the past Harry Potter films and started doing some effects tests to see how close I can come to the effects in the films. I will keep you posted on how this is coming along. Again, if you want to see how everyone is fairing in the contest, it can be seen here
Mar. 11 2007 - I started writing a script for my next short film. It should be significantly longer and have more character development than the experimental film "Caught". I decided to bring in a DP (Director of Photography) for this project. She is a talented photographer who after looking at some of her work, knows exactly what she's doing.
Jasmin Diaz will be behind the scenes as my camera operator for this project.
